Dry Needling
What is Dry Needling?
Dry Needling is a technique used by our highly trained Podiatrists to relieve pain and improve function in your feet. It involves inserting a series of thin needles into the area of concern to release trigger-points in the muscle reducing both local and referred pain.
How can dry needling help me?
Dry needling can allow muscles to relax, reduce pain and increase muscle function. However, it’s often used with other treatments to optimise healing and injury recovery. Common areas that are treated with dry needling include:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Ankle Sprains
- Bunion Pain
- Calf Tightness and Cramping
- Anterior and Medial Shin Splits
- Compartment Syndrome
- Lateral leg pain
Who is dry needling suitable for?
Our clinic successfully uses dry needling for most cases of muscle pain and referred pain in feet. However, it’s not suitable for the following patients:
- Pregnant women in their first trimester
- Needle phobia
- Abnormal bleeding tendencies
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Immunosuppressed
